What We Believe

Cowboy Church of Young County

STATEMENT OF FAITH

This is a brief summary of what we believe and hold to be the basis of the Christian Faith.

·        The Bible is the inspired, preserved, infallible word of God. It is the sole authority for all we say and do.

·        There is only one true and living God. He has revealed Himself to mankind through His Word as; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

·        Jesus Christ is the virgin born son of God. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross for our sins. He was buried and rose on the third day. He now sits at the right hand of God the Father and intercedes for us. One day He will return for His own. We will return with Him someday on white horses.

·        When a person realizes they are a sinner and Jesus is the Savior, they must confess their sins to God. They must turn from their sins and turn to God. They must accept Jesus and believe that His blood was shed as a sacrifice for the redemption of their sins. They must receive forgiveness and the gift of eternal life. At that time they are adopted into the family of God, indwelt and sealed by the Holy Spirit.

·        The Holy Spirit is active in the world today. He convicts of sin, calls people into the ministry, empowers the work of the church and enables Christians to live a life acceptable to God.

·        Everyone will stand before God and be held accountable those who accept Jesus and serve God at the resurrection of life and those who reject Jesus at the resurrection of damnation. (John 28-29)

·        It is important to follow the commands and examples set forth in the Word of God. Therefore, we hold the practice of water baptism by emersion and the Lord’s Supper to be the ordinances of the church. Neither of these ordinances is necessary for salvation, but they do have great significance and are very meaningful when observed properly.  They are symbolic and are examples of our living faith in Jesus Christ.

·        The work and ministry of the church is to be supported by the time, talents, tithes and offerings of the members. Fund raisers and special events will be held to raise money for special programs, projects and outreach ministries of the church.
